Boy Meets World: Season 4 DVD Could Be Released.

Boy Meets World fans around the globe were ecstatic back in August, 2004 when the complete first season of their favorite TV show was released on DVD by the Walt Disney Studios. Three months later, in November of that year, the complete second season was also released on DVD and, even though the sales went down 12% when compared to those of the first season DVD, the studio was still pleased with the numbers and released the complete third season set, nine months later, in August of 2005.

However, much to the studio's disappointment, sales for the third season DVD went down 39% from the second season DVD and almost 54% from the sales of the first season DVD. Plans for releasing a Season Four DVD set on January of 2006 were immediately discarded without making that little change of plans public to the fans.

When the scheduled release date arrived and the DVD set for the fourth season was nowhere to be found, fans began to wonder what was going on. Buena Vista Home Entertainment, the distributor for the DVD set, stated the set had been pulled from their schedule, but that the studio did plan on releasing the title later on. No updated date was ever given, and fans lost hope.

Nevertheless, not all might be lost. Back in 2008, in an effort to boost their sales and branch out of the children and fitness markets, Lionsgate Entertainment made a deal with Walt Disney Studios in which they purchased the distribution rights of several ABC TV shows, one of which was Boy Meets World. Although Lionsgate has yet to talk about a release date for the remaining seasons of the show, the fact that they bought the rights of distribution for it is certainly good news. Out of the over half a dozen TV shows they bought the rights of, they have already released DVD sets for two of them (According to Jim: The Complete Season One and Reaper: The Complete Seasons One and Two).

The cynic might see this as nothing to get excited about, but as far as I'm concerned, it's looking better for the Season Four DVD set of Boy Meets World now than it has for a long time.
