Boy Meets World is an American TV Series that aired from September of 1993 all the way through May of 2000, which means it had a pretty good run of seven seasons on the air. It was part of ABC's "TGIF" (Thank God It's Friday) line up back in the 90's, which was aimed at pre and early teens.
The show tells the story of Cory Mathews (Ben Savage), a young boy that grows from being a curious and awkward preteen to being a mature married man. As the show goes on, we see Cory going through most of the regular problems that regular teenagers have, dealing with such issues as sex, high school, college and even drugs.
Always at Cory's side was his best friend Shawn (Rider Strong), his childhood sweetheart Topanga (Danielle Fishel) and a teacher or principal that always helps him out with his troubles. The people in his life would constantly challenge his many theories about relationships and life in general. The show had many things to it that made it a great show; it was funny, it was romantic, it had drama and it taught real life lessons from time to time. Many have even compared it to traditional shows in the lines of The Brady Bunch, Family Ties, and other shows.
From middle school through college and beyond fans followed Cory and his life, his love, and all the trouble he got into along the way. The people and places that he considers his own are taken away from him little by little, leaving him to really reflect on just what his life is, or is supposed to be about when things are constantly shifting and nothing is ever what you had expected it to be.
Obviously the show wasn't 100% exclusively about Cory. His parents, his friends, his siblings would all fall into funny and sometimes serious circumstances that would develop and get resolved by the end of the thirty minute episode. However, the show did cross the line of believability sometimes in the sense that relationships between characters would last beyond what they would probably last in a real situation, but then again, it was television.
